Tomatoes get a bad rap, people!
Safe food handling practices appear to be more than sufficient to reduce the risk of transmission from your favourite takeout spot’s container or your culinarily-inclined neighbour, but the looming question remains: Can COVID-19 be transmitted through food? It appears not.
It never felt necessary to do weeks’ worth of planning and shopping all at once, much less have to totally commit to the roster of ingredients with no backsies when it was time to cook.
This feast was inspired by chef Carla Lalli Music, whose pantry pasta dish on a recent episode of Bon Appétit’s Test Kitchen Talks involved cooking down greens, sautéing lots of smashed garlic cloves, and assembling pasta in a quick olive oil pan sauce in under 10 minutes.
In the context of physical distancing, perhaps the extension of humanity’s collective action in this area is to unite on a few key serotonin-boosting activities and rediscover slower consumption as a first step to reinventing our social and economic worlds.
